Siemens Gamesa will supply offshore wind turbines for the Equinor and Polenergia projects. Key contracts for the Bałtyk II and III wind farms have been signed

Equinor and Polenergia have selected Siemens Gamesa as the supplier of turbines for the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind farms. Energy companies have signed final contracts for the production, delivery, and service of 100 modern offshore wind turbines. The signed contracts are of key importance for the implementation of both projects in the Baltic Sea. The Bałtyk II and III offshore wind farms, with a total capacity of 1440 MW, will provide green energy for more than two million households. These investments are of strategic importance for Poland's energy security.

The SG 14-236 DD turbines, which have been ordered for the Baltic II and Baltic III projects, are the largest offshore turbines produced by Siemens Gamesa to date. Each of them will have a capacity of 14.4 MW. One rotation of the rotor of the installed turbine will produce clean energy that will meet the needs of one household in Poland for four days.

The finalization of contracts for their production and supply is of key importance for the implementation of our projects in the Baltic Sea and is a very important step in the development of the entire offshore wind energy sector in Poland. Clean renewable energy from the Baltic projects of Equinor and Polenergia should feed into the national power grid as early as 2027. We can't wait for that moment. The contracts signed with Siemens Gamesa cover the design, delivery, installation, and commissioning of 100 innovative offshore wind turbines, as well as their maintenance and warranty service. The agreement is the final step following the signing by both parties of a reservation agreement for the supply of turbines in February 2022.

The conclusion of the definitive agreement with the turbine supplier for the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects is a key step in the development of these projects. Our priority is to introduce the highest quality technologies to the Polish market, which will allow the construction of a modern offshore wind energy sector. Our goals include providing Poland with clean energy from renewable sources, based on leading and most efficient solutions. The Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III wind farms planned for 2027 will be among the first in the Polish sea. Their launch will have a significant impact on the energy security of Poland, ensuring stable renewable energy for many years to come, says Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, President of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland.

In the so-called second phase of the development of the Polish offshore wind sector, Equinor and Polenergia are also implementing the Bałtyk I project. The offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 1560 MW will be located about 80 km from the shore near Łeba. All three Bałtyk wind farms will have a combined capacity of up to 3 GW, providing green energy for more than four million households.

The projects carried out jointly by Equinor and Polenergia are a key element of the Polish energy transition. Residents of Pomerania can learn more about them in the "Baltic Offshore Wind Farm Information Centre". The information point opened by investors in Łeba is the first facility of this type in Poland.
